I know what your saying, when you buy a reseller account your technically competing with your host What you need to do is target a different market then your host. Offer stuff they cannot, advertise elsewhere. I have reseller clients who sell a small portion of there space for the price of the entire reseller plan. They might only manage to get 4 or 5 customers in a month but they would allready be making a great return on their investment.

Or choose a host that only does reseller hosting so they are not competing with your for clients.

So Many People Says Do not expect good support on cheap hosting with big deal so that mean they support reseller more than their hosting client or not ? ;P

I would say most companies give the same level of support to shared and reseller clients

Fair enough. However, as a small enterprise, a reseller should think about something to differentiate itself form the other hosts out there, including their own provider. "We're no different from other hosts" is hardly a selling point.

The two support requirements may look (on the surface) to be the same, but they are vastly different. Reseller support is probably the toughest and most targetted of all support protocols. It takes a totally different type of approach, both on a technical, and personal level. I guess it really depends on the provider; Asking a company that splits techs across offerings (specifically shared/reseller) to provide high end reseller-specific support is probably not fair to them. That's not a knock on a provider that approaches it that way, it's just a fact of the business. A reseller comes in with a more targeted approach; More often than not, their intention is to build their company up to the dedicated server level, and beyond. A shared hosting (non-reseller) specific tech may be able to answer general questions, but when it comes to building that reseller up, and paving the path for them, it is asking (in my opinion) too much of a non-targeted technican.
