Bye Bye hostingspecialist!

Posted by kingkong, 06-09-2004, 01:10 AM
I have bad experience with hostingspecialist since they down their server last time. First, mySQL is totally unusable then hosting down later. The support guy ask me to decide whether to move my account to others new server which is "more" stable. After the decision, I plan to moved them. After 1 month (now), the serious downtime happens again and it also happens to their main site thehostingspecialist.com! What happens to them? Hacked? or what? That must be some reason! I now have total lost my trust against them. Do you guys know any cheaper hosting service that provided unlimited domains? Or maybe cheap one is not good want to recommend a higher cost one? Thanks in advance. ~Iz

First off, i think you're always going to run into this problem. Especially since: If you want 99%+ uptime, then I suggest you forget "cheap", spend the extra money and sign up with a reliable company.

Look I know you don't have a lot of money to spend whatever we've heard all the excuses. If your business isn't worth spending a reasonable amount of money on why do you bother even having it. That's all I want to know.

Indeed. One would think that after being burned, you'd go out in search of something better, not worse.

LOL @ InSite. kingkong, How much were you spending and how much are you willing to spend? Spending more doesn't mean better service. Only better service means better service. Mulder

True it doesn't mean better service but it does mean higher life expectancy.

I think that poor service leads to lower life expectancy, regardless of price.

thanks for your comments. After about >12 hours of downtime my sites, the service has been restore but the cpanel still not accessible (invalid license key!) :-( Anywhere I have move most of my DNS pointing to new hosting and left two sites there. Because I want to give them a last chance and also that customer might not be able to pay much for the service.

kingkong, Try http://thrillhost.com. Dump your current host. Mulder

If you are having that much downtime I would suggest going to a new host.

I have 3 clients that were with hostingspecialist and left because downtime was almost equal to uptime. They were told the same, they could move to another server. One procrastinated and now hopes that she can retrieve some of her lost business.
