Choosing Virtualization platform

Hi, I'm having a server which i have to choose from 2 x Xeon E5405 or 2 x Opteron 2344 with 8GB ram! I plan to install a virtualization hypervisor in which i will host maximum 4 VM/VPS but only 2 will be used for webhosting and must be top at performance the other 2 are relatively small and low performance requirements like router. My options are Citrix XenServer and VMware ESXi. I have quite some experience with VMware ESX/vSphere which i don't have a single complaint but the case was different since the setup was with 6 server and full Enterprise license. I have tried free ESXi on a single host but the features are quite limited compared to paid versions and most of all i miss a good backup solution. I never tried XenServer and i don't know how it compares to VMware in performance, as for features i read that it has a lot more than ESXi. What would you choose for CPU and virtualization platform? I appreciate any inputs on this matter.

You cannot sell hosting with ESXi. It's violated VMware's rules. I myself don't have VMware for comparing, but Citrix Xenserver is working well for us.

gate2vn i believe you cannot sell virtual machines or rent them with ESXi but you can use them for selling webhosting or do whatever under VM. It's hard to say which is the better unless you have tried both of them for quite long time then you can compare.
