Reseller with Datacenter / Server outside US?

Posted by MacNasty, 02-13-2004, 07:47 AM
I am looking for a reseller with good costs that has their datacenter / servers located outside the US. Roughly 1GB with 10-20GB transfer, php, unlimited domains, Cpanel, WHM, the usual. I will be dealing with duty free items such as perfumes etc. and per clients request would like to locate server files outside. I was looking at Germany, Australia, Canada, etc. Most web activity will be from the US and Europe. I would really appreciate any suggestions, thanks

Australia has poor connectivity to europe

you can go to www.webhostingtalk.com.au for Australian providers

yeah, if Australia servers are slow to the US and Europe, maybe I should be looking at just Canada or Europe then. thanks

So I guess it just doesn't exist? all the datacenters are in the US? that makes me proud to be an american! But I still need a server outside... I haven't seen a question that hasn't been answered on these posts in a long time.

You can get some good canadian places . canaca.com and other places located in or near toronto tend to have fairly good connections to the states (from my understanding . Were based in canada , eh ; so most of my knowledge regarding connectivity of canadian hosts to the states is second hand) . What is your price range ? To get something with good connectivity to the US & Europe (outside of the US) could start to get a bit pricy ....

price range is $20-$40/month 1-2GB storage, 10GB and up bandwidth, preferred C-Panel and WHM (not critical), unlimited domains, emails, MySQL dbs, etc. any info would be very much appreciated. I have been looking all week now at well over 50 different hosts. The most likely candidate at the moment is hostorange out of Belgium, although at the top of my price range, may have to do. Although the fastest ping times are from HostOrange (to Europe), cougarhosting located in Vancouver seems to have better costs. Cougarhosting has datacenters in the US (TX) and in Vancouver, but their Vancouver location is full at the moment and they want to fill the TX server before they will add space to the Vancouver location. I am guessing with that customer service they may not be the best company to go with anyways?

You could try India. I know some datacenters down there have some pretty decent speed along with their support which is truly unbelievable.

If I have not mistaken, its expensive to have server in India. In fact, it is in Asia too, therefore it could be slower for Europe.

I know a friend of mine in India who has his small datacenter there and quite frankly it is not expensive. Bandwidth used to be expensive but now the costs for it have crashed down

India would not really make any sense for me because all the customers are in the US and Europe and I think it would be pointless to sacrifice the transmission time when there are enough to chose from in Canada and Europe.

As someone mentioned before the best place to check out would be webhostingtalk.com.au for Aussie based servers where there is a directory of hosts and suppliers

Albator it's a shame you don't bother to read. 99% of traffic is routed through the US to get to europe from Australia.

I believe the original post asked about data centres located outside the US in for example Australia and that is what I responded to so the eyes seem to be fine We have sites on servers in three different countries including England and they are being accessed by aussies and none have ever complained about connectivity Of course yes it takes longer to get there but the average site being viewed by average people presents no problem

Considering most of the users traffic is coming from Europe why anyone in the world would wan't to host the site in Australia is beyond me. The route of travel for example if you were in germany and the server was in Perth Australia Germany ---> London ---> USA ---> Sydney ----> Perth Why bother and have his customers complain about load times. In the ecommerce business server location does affect sales believe it or not. The respondant also stated the following:

Robert I don't understand why you are trying to make a point here I was simply trying to be helpful and respond to the first post I do not intend to dstract from the true topic of this thread by replying further and suggest you do the same

At the moment there are two candidates... 1. - HostOrange, which has been very prompt and helpful in answering all of my quesitons. 2. - The other is PriorityColo. I am urging towards PriorityColo only because they use WHM and Cpanel, otherwise I would go with HostOrange without any quesiton. However may try HostOrange's custom contral panels during their 30 money back guarantee period, because it would be a shame to not give them a chance just because of their control panel which has nothing to do with the server and support quality.

Myles and the chaps from PriorityColo are a good choice. They do run a good tight ship there. I would not hesitate in recommending them. Craig

I would urge you to go with Priority Colo. I've been to the datacenter and I've personally met Miles (porcupine). The guy knows his stuff. The datacenter is on 3 power grids, has tight security and a couple other backup power solutions. If a company like demodemo.com has gone with them...well I'll let you make your own conclusions.
