Oktagone Update - Small Development

Posted by ManagerJosh, 03-26-2005, 06:45 AM
Okay, a friend of mine who works at the website who's domain is being held hostage, well we managed to get a hold of Greg finally...after much pressure. Here's a copy of the complete AIM conversation. I altered the transcript to just change the AIM Screenname of my friend for privacy reasons. And just an FYI, he did not sign off at the end. He blocked her. I confirmed it with my own screenname. Plus if you look at http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...2#post2954692, he said LAST wednesday, not the wednesday after Easter for domain transfer.

wow, what a **** about the whole thing, is he like 12 or something?

Posted by Leprous, 03-30-2005, 08:07 AM
Has anyone had their domain transferred to them yet?

Posted by ManagerJosh, 03-30-2005, 02:35 PM

Since the news update from the DDoS attacks have been taken down and the new web site for Oktagone has replaced it.. I would like to know what Greg ment by haveing Shared host, cpanel 1 & 2 teminated.. does that mean that he will no longer have cpanel for shared hosting sites, I haven't had access to the cpanel for what two weeks.. and I'm paying for this service.. does anyone have an understanding what is going on.. or will this all be stipulated in the "email" on Wednesday. I've already got a new host for my second domain.. now my main one will be biding its time untill my plan is up.

And now both my website and Oktagone's actual website have gone down. Oktagone - if you're reading this, PLEASE reply to my e mail to your support address. Have you terminated Cpanel 1&2 already, hence my website going down? And why is the Oktagone website oktagone dot net down? If you have terminated Cpanel 1+2 a bit of prior notice from yourselves would have been nice, such as a simple e mail to me explaining what's going on rather than reading all about it on here as usual. Just SEND YOUR CUSTOMERS E MAILS EXPLAINING WHAT'S HAPPENING AND/OR REPLY TO E MAILS YOUR CUSTOMERS SEND TO YOU! It's so utterly frustrating.

Are there any Oktagone customers reading who are/were on Nameservers - ns1 or ns2 dot oktagone.com? Have you been given your domain names/or are back online yet? Greg - I need my domain name back. I haven't had a website since Friday, and I haven't had a website with cpanel access for about 3 weeks. You're company has not replied to any of my e mails, I filled in the "automatic domain transfer" form on your site on Friday and nothing has happened, your "all hours" phone number is dead. If you're reading - PLEASE contact me. I don't know what else I can do other than write on here.

I thought Oktagone folded and was officially out of business. Maybe I heard wrong.

Try searching Google for "oktagone publishing" some interesting results come up there... ...there are plenty of good (professional) companies out there!

does anyone else get this sickly feeling that we have been totally burned by OG I mean I haven't heard a thing or even an email for over a month now, and what this with ETA crap on the main page http://oktagone.net/ that has been there since LAST Friday.. hello it is now what Thursday. now I have two domains one has gotten itself a new webhosting service the other i regret is staying at OG just for the fact that I've paid for my full year until November. has Greg completely cut off all customers that has been "affected" by his unacceptable business behavior.. everyday I'm on AOL and everyday so is OG and everyday as soon as I say hello.. I'm Blocked.. nice. all I want to know is when will my sites will come back on line and since I am not able to use my Cpanel at all, will I be getting any restitution for the services that I've paid for and cannot receive. its just not that hard. and I don't want no crap about having 3 months of free pay, because that is just utterly disgusting.

Oktagone is down. They don't even host their own page out of their "State of the art data centre". They have their own site hosted out of TP in texas. I've changed all my DNS's over (AGAIN!).Legal action would be nice, but that would just be a waste of my time. I doubt oktagone/greg is worth a whole lot right now.

Can anyone say whether or not Oktagone is actually gone? I see that oktagone.com has now cropped up and even though most of the links don't work, it seems to be promoting itself as a legitimate business website (or as legitimate as Greg ever is). Interestingly, one of the links that DOES work is for an Automated Domain Transfer, for ex-Oktagone customers seeking to move. I'd be curious to see if that actually works. Also, does anyone know anything about Glined.net? If I didn't know better, I'd say it was Greg's blog...

Posted by pixelvibe, 04-09-2005, 03:07 PM
Yes, glined is greg's site. You can tell, its hosted on the same server (or block of ip's) that Oktagone.net is on. I still think its hilarious that he hosts his own sites in the US while promoting his australian hosting business.

Is anyboyd able to access their site yet?

Posted by HostingInsider, 04-10-2005, 06:58 PM
I just went there and found this form to transfer domains: http://www.oktagone.net/support/domain-transfer/

Posted by pixelvibe, 04-10-2005, 07:15 PM
Oktagone is dead. C:\>ping ns1.oktagone.com Ping request could not find host ns1.oktagone.com. Please check the name and try again. C:\>ping anibus.oktagone.com Ping request could not find host anibus.oktagone.com. Please check the name and try again. The ip address used to be 202.72.134.34 The ip address is no longer registered to any owner. Instead it has been allocated to the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre. Not only does Oktagone no longer own its IPs, without which, they cannot operate a datacentre. Which explains why their own site (greg's included) is hosted at ThePlanet (or one of their resellers). The site is probably still up and taking payments as a scam or sorts since there is no way they can continue offering aussie based hosting. It's been a good run, with a terrible ending.

This may come as a suprise... I visited the Oktagone "data centre" last week. The office is empty, definitely no servers, racks or Internet connectivity there. In fact nothing at all, except a pile of mail shoved under the door, including a few bills. I guess the debt collectors will also be after Macsok soon...! Wrexy-Au...

You should post pictures of their datacentre...just for kicks. frankly, i'm not suprised. We moved all our content after the Ezzi incident

i found oktagone to be horrible, after being hosted with decent service for a year they had this whole server switch thing, since early january my site hasnt come back and doesnt ever seem like it will. Im changing hosts.

You hadn't already? Stuart

Sadly enough, I don't have the money to switch hosting. I'm loosing so many visitors to this freakin pile of a crap of a hosting company. Oh btw, the site moddb.com is hosted by Greg, Oktagone.net, and the site is still operational. Something inside me wants to find the best way to destroy moddb. How can these people stay in business? This is the first time I've read things in this particular forum group, and am absolutely shocked by some of the things I've read. 32 hour downtimes, district attorneys, fibre cuts, non-existent generators in sub-basements, absolutely unbelievable!

greg does not host moddb.com so destroying that site wont do any good. He use to host the site but not any longer.
