If your using cPanel just use the apache update script and compile it with Tomcat.

| mod_jk would not be recommended for an Apache -> Tomcat connection. If you're using Apache then take advantage of mod_proxy_ajp (but watch out for bug 45911 if you use file uploads to Tomcat - use Apache 2.2.11 for the fixed version) or mod_proxy_http. mod_jk uses the AJP protocol too.
A common place to use mod_jk is an IIS to Tomcat installation.
