HOSTING24-7.COM - Help Please

Posted by Emilio, 10-07-2000, 05:43 PM
I just signed up with Hosting24-7.com. I saw a little written on this board about their services. Does anyone have anymore input on them. So far so good, they have responded to my email in less than 20 minutes and my account was set up and online at lightening speed. I am on the free trial and still have the month to cancel, but will like to get your experiences with them. All thanks!

The services of Hosting24-7.com looks great, but they copied the FAQ of http://www.gxhosting.com and I think that the picture on http://www.hosting24-7.com/aboutus.htm is an edited photo...

Yes, I'm sure they prefer email because their toll-free number doesn't work. Some poor lady answers who has no idea what I'm talking about. And it is funny that their faq keeps mentioning GXHosting.

I'm a little curious - exactly how did anyone get signed up with them, anyway? Half the order links are broken, and the other half are pointing to a link on the DSM, which you can't get to without a username or password.

Posted by Chicken, 10-07-2000, 08:24 PM
Hmmm.. that is VERY interesting. Care to shed some light on this Emilio and tejan?

Posted by Greg, 10-07-2000, 08:39 PM
They'd be in financial trouble if their order form was accessable without passwords that they linked to, because they linked to the "Order FREE Domain" in their DSM, so anyone could open accounts for free

Posted by Greg, 10-07-2000, 08:46 PM
Hmmmm....they say on their website that they were established in '99.....but they didn't get their domain until this past July, 3 months ago! NSI domain record: Record created on 29-Jul-2000 ( Hosting24-7.com ) If you will look at pureideasplus.com, you will see: Record created on 1998-08-19 So he NSI database does keep track, even after I moved my domain to BulkRegister and renewed it this year (just so you know the date has nothing to do with tranfers or renewing).

Chicken, If you ask me, this is a shameful self promotion.. This post if too unbelievable. Emilio and tejan are either the same person, partners or good buddies.. Lookup their IP's at arin, and then lookup hosting24-7.com - Both IP's are from college servers in Pittsburg, PA and the domain name record also shows that hosting24-7.com is in Pittsburg. I find it hard to believe that Emilio just ordered service when you can't even access their order form. Not to mention that it's hard to believe that tejan is a customer.. Every post that tejan has made here has been promotion for hosting24-7.com - Not one bit of helpful information, just a whole bunch of "check out hosting24-7.com" - Why would this "customer" hang around this board all day and promote hosting24-7.com? Hmmnh... Please, someone prove me wrong..

Most people prefer hosts that offer the best service and support, anyone can have low costs. Why don't you give us your sites URL that is hosted by them then? How did you manage to order an account when the order forms are behind a password?

Posted by Chicken, 10-07-2000, 09:53 PM
Tej, no one said their costs aren't good. The bottom line really is: I tried to order a package and couldn't. I tried from every link. That makes eyebrows go up.

I looked at it and started to wonder myself.

Posted by Greg, 10-08-2000, 03:25 AM
You would understand if you've been in these forums as long as we have and seen the lame attempts at self promotion....sorry, but we get a little weary of newcomers talking about new hosts. About your site, make the background color white to match the background color of your images...I have my folders background set to grey and therefore i see a grey background in your site. I'm willing to bet that you see white by default but not everyone does.

Is it just me or hosting24-7.com stole layout from jumpline?

Posted by schweiz, 10-08-2000, 04:06 AM
looking at http://www.dollarplans.com/ http://www.hosting24-7.com/resellers.htm and http://ECAMEROUN.COM (website of Administrative Contact of hosting24-7.com from whois) cant help but notice the similarities....

Very Weird!! Tejian!! Can you please answer the FOLLOWING: 1. How did you order your package when it states that you need a Username and Password just to LOGIN to the Order Page. Don't tell me that you have to EMAIL them about it and then they send you the info. (That's just bad business) 2. Please explain how they Establish themselves in Dec 1999, when they only registered their Domain name in 29th July 2000? Not only that, when you register a Domain name, obviously, you need to set it all up! And that might take about 2-3 weeks to do that. (let's just say 1 month). So that means that they'll be established at the end of August. Now it is only October 8th! and as far as I've see it, they have only been in BUSINESS for 1 MONTH! 3. SINCE the IP originates from an EDU domain, obviously you guys are students, now...Since they've said that they've got about 1000 domains already in that 1 month of Business, (very unbelievable) they must have gotten about 33 Customers per day. So how did you find out about Hosting24x7.com?? They either have ultra marketing abilities or it's just plain Lies. 4. And final, why in the heck would you want to register this board and just promote that company? If you were making ur own plan, obviously you would want to advertise it (Unless you were asked/paid by Hosting24x7, or even better, you run Hosting24x7 with Eisha or whatshername) And ohh btw, Has anyone tried the Toll Free Support?? So far, I'm rather wary about this company.

I'm suprised with their content on http://hosting24-7.com

Posted by alchiba, 10-08-2000, 07:03 PM
Small world, isn't it? Especially when you consider the domain record on Tejan's site shows an address about 3.2 miles (according to Mapquest) from Carnegie-Mellon and U. of Pittsburgh, which are the netblock owners of Tejan's and Emilio's IP addresses. Add to that the fact that hosting24-7.com's location is just around the corner from those campuses as well. It takes a village to make a hosting company. . . :-)

Posted by Trijnie, 10-08-2000, 07:03 PM
for sure! Every one who checks both sites out see that.

Here is a secure order form I found that is used to collect credit card information, http://hosting24-7.com/invoice.html isn't it suppose to be https, to be secure.

Posted by BC, 10-08-2000, 08:52 PM
Hmmm... Sales @ Audiohost? Interesting... That form's background color doesn't really inspire either.

Posted by angela, 10-08-2000, 11:23 PM
That background color would give me a migraine after 2 minutes! Yikes!

Posted by MilkMan, 10-08-2000, 11:53 PM
I just went to http://hosting24-7.com/invoice.html and yep, still an Audiohost invoice page. Just sent an email to sales@audiohost.com thats listed at the bottom

Posted by JayC, 10-09-2000, 12:04 AM
While it appears that they didn't actually create any of their content, they certainly didn't create that "audiohost" page. It, and the rest of the stuff that is in the directory listing at hosting24.7.com (if you don't use http://www.) was in our /usr/wwws/htdocs. As for the rest of the Hosting24-7 issue, you know, I don't really care much about how the various fly-by-night "I'm gonna be a hosting company and get rich quick" bozos amrket themselves because it's usually pretty easy to see right through them. In this case, though, their approach is over the line into fraud with the obviously false claims of thousands of customers in 112 countries or whatever the exact numbers are. So I'll probably make an exception; I have a work acquaintence who works for the Secretary of State in Pennsylvania, so I'll call and get some idea of what consumer protection organizations in Pittsburgh might be willing to look into this.
