Please help me choose the best option!

I want to provide hosting for my web design customers. I won't (initially) have enough (money or knowledge to get a dedicated server. The other thing is that I want to be a good host (read I don't know enough to provide the best support). Should I go with a referall thing where I just get $20 if my client signs up through me? I would like to do something more branded w/ my company. Please help me!!!! Thanks!

They stated that they don't know enough to provide good support etc for the client. With this said, I'll say that don't go the reselling route. Instead do a refererer and create a link between you and your host. Then try to learn the business as much as you can by working with your customers. With this the hosts does all the support and you maintain a good relationship with your customers. If after that you want to do reselling then take that option. In any case find a good host that you can trust and have the same ideas as you. You two have to click well together first. Good luck.

Aloha, I do the same thing have no wanting to be a reseller but host my clients only. if you go with a reseller type situation you just resell em to your clients I am upfront to my clients about waht I do I say it makes me a few extra bucks because I resell hosting plans. I have found this works well with me it also pulss some weight off me because if your reseller goes bad at least they will not think it is all you. just my 2 pennies I am with vserver (hostpro) right now have been with em since 1997 and just now starting to have a few issues with em. My account rep usually kicks it in for me and gets stuf caught up or done for me. but still a royal pain in the akole.

Okay, I have been talking w/ others, and I have read your ideas, and I think I'm going for referrel. Now...what is the best referrel plan. Does hostrocket have a good one? any other hosts that have great referrel plans that can switch into resellers? Thanks!!

If you enable the email function in your profile, web hosting companies who meet your requirements can email you their proposals Kind Regards,
