Create new customer account via a script
Posted by Halloween, 01-13-2010, 11:00 PM |
Hi all.
I'm a reseller for a host, and I access my reseller account via the dotNetPanel interface (dotNetPanel.com).
The web server is Windows Server 2008/IIS7.
My question is this:
Does anyone think it would be possible to create a new account for a new customer via scripting, rather than manually going into dotNetPanel and creating a new customer account there?
I don't need to configure the new account to any degree via the script (although that would be nice), just create it.
Just being able to create the new account would be a big help with a membership site I'm working on, where a membership bonus is their own website. It would be a big help to be able to create the customer account on the web server when they join the membership site.
Any advice/suggestions most welcome.

most CPs have API for these kind of procedures, so does dotNetPanel aswell.

Thanks to your helpful lead I have found something called "Easy API for DotNetPanel", and there are programming examples in VBScript, which is what I need because my web language is classic asp.
But what I'm wondering is this...
Will the dotNetPanel API be usable by me as someone with a reseller account on my host's server? In other words it's not my server, not my installation of dotNetPanel, and so obviously I don't have administrative rights -- just my reseller login credentials.

No, it in all likelihood will not be accessible to you. I would imagine that you'd have to have administrative rights.

i dont have any experience with dotnetpanel API however docs says:
"For interacting with DotNetPanel API you should use Basic Authentication. DotNetPanel recognizes Authorization header with the user credentials provided in the following format: username:password"
So it might just work fine with your reseller user/pass.
