Looks like PHP needs to be less than or equal to 4.4.0. Is php-sqlite2 being depreciated? I tried to do a php.net search but could only find php-sqlite and not php-sqlite2? I never personally used sqlite, sorry I couldn't be of more help. I'm just going by what was read in your post.

If you dont use sqlite, you could just yum remove php-sqlite2 and then try upgrading php again.
