Looking for fast optimal server

Hi, So I need an advice on what kind of server and configuration I should be looking for to do what I require efficiently. I will be running bot that will allow me to purchase limited shoes at website such as nike, adidas, footlocker, etc. During very limited hype releases, I will be competing with other bots and website normally crashes making it hard for my bot to cart shoes. In order to have a fighting chance and allowing me to purchase shoes, what kind of server I should be looking at? I know that best optimal thing would be to find a server that is hosted near the sneaker website server. Is there anything I should look for? Would cpu and ram resource makes a difference? Bot does not take up many resources, Maybe 2gb ram max and 2 cpu core. Is there some information I am missing that is very crucial to carting shoes? There are other services out there buy shoes for other people and they are very successful. Example: Two days ago, eastbay released jodrans and website crashed hard. I wasn't even able to see the product page until 1 mins later(That is bad since bot would eat it up within 20 seconds). My bot couldn't get through either because webpage wasn't loading. Yet shoe services were able to get through and purchase shoes easily. Are they running some kind of special server?

Well, you should look at the resources of your bot first and provide your budget details.

It seems that it is your initial hosted solution for your starting project and I would recommend you not to invest that much into huge server at the beginning. I believe you can start with shared account and then upgrade as you grow. That should save your money as well as help to understand what kind of the solution you really need. Also you are going to use some web application? Correct? If yes you can start hosting search based on requirements of that web application.

All I need is 4cpu and 4gb. That is more than enough but just to be on safe side. My budget is about $100 or if it hourly server, I can do way higher. I am not hosting or starting any project. I already have the program. I just need server to run the program on

Hey! I suggest you a cloud VPS . You can try Digitalocean or vscale.io (their price is very low) u can get 8 GB RAM for 50 usd I will move to their cloud server in 1 week

I'm going to approach this in on a different angle. Many of these large eCommerce websites are fairly redundant and not running on a single server let alone a single web server. Many of these types of "purchase bots" have already mapped out all the individual servers behind the "front door" and connect (if not blocked) to these directly. Often when a website "crashes" there can be resources behind the front door that are accessible. If you are just waiting to get into the front door the game will be over before you've even started. You also at a huge disadvantage, I know a few of these services and almost every one has a box in the same data center (if possible, or as close as you can get with a dedi) with a cross connect for as direct a connection as possible. You're not going to beat these guys with a VPS server on (even a really well connected) public host. Your problem at this point isn't how powerful your server is, it's your connection to the resources.

What kind of operating system does your ordering software require? If it's Windows, then I'd recommend adding a bit more RAM. For Windows Server 2012, 2GB is not very much to work with. If your ordering software leaks memory and you need to have it running for long periods of time -- 4GB or 8GB RAM would give you good head room to work with. Try running your ordering software for a long time and use the Task Manager to check it's memory usage after a day or so.

So do you have any tips for me on how to get a fighting chance? You said connection to the resources. How can I gain access to those resources? Would I need to shell out over thousands of dollar on a server that will allow me to connect to these resources? And I do have one of those purchase bots. But I don't know if it does what you mentioned

So I assume you have been hosted previously somewhere? If Yes where? And main question qhy are you moving? Perhaps you can find some solution with your existing company?

Mainly because of the location. If possible, I would like to be as close to Boston, MA if possible with either 1Gb or 1Gb+ speed. Cpu and ram dont matter that much but prefer to be 4CPU+ and 4Gb ram+.

That is a good idea. I think you can check some hosts here on the WHT in marketing section. Also You can check for Data Centers in Boston and then discover which hosting companies keep their servers there.

I don't think you should require 1Gbps as carting uses less than 5Mbps at peak. A fighting Chance 1. If your using proxies, use local State area proxies of where your VPS is located. --- Using out of state proxies makes the location worthless
