Review of TurnKey Internet.

Posted by xxnomyxx, 02-02-2014, 01:35 PM
I've been with Turnkey internet for about 3 months now. Let me just say this, this is the most painful host I've ever dealt with. The first issue being their general system. Their reseller servers are extremely slow, constant downtime and general time outs. Secondly, their advert said 100GB Storage and 1TB Bandwidth. Upon looking in my cPanel it was about 10GB off storage and 60 of Bandwidth, clearly someone couldn't count. I opened a ticket with their tech dept in order to get the full amount I paid. Their horrible sales manager, Tim Kirsch who quite frankly is worst sales manager on earth. Lowered my account to 10GB storage and 100GB Bandwidth. After further complaining it was finally put correct. From day one of hosting and a few months back when I was shopping around, Tim Kirsch has made my life with turnkey hell. He doesn't know how to read clients request. He looks at the first question (if you're lucky) and half answers it. I only got all my questions/issues resolved when I threatened to file a report to their Customer Experience Director and he soon changed his tune. After about 1 month I had an issue and was giving Tim yet again, hoping he learned from last time to answer my tickets correctly, I was disappointment. My ticket consisted of a livechat script and my question at the bottom, one question was at the start of the chat and another at the end. Right in the middle there was a question about purchasing more IPs, Tim must have read through all the chat and only asked how many IPs I wanted to buy. He couldn't care I was having issues. Overall this has to be the worst company I've ever dealt with. Understandably not all the staff will be like him, but from the ones I've dealt with they're horrible. If I answered tickets how Tim does, I'd be fired. They seriously need to kick their staff in the ass to get them to work. If you don't mind lag, downtime and you know how to solve EVERY issue, then turnkey is for you. Other than that, run the hell away. Over view: Support: 2/10 Hardware: 6/10 Uptime: 4/10 I'd be more than happy to move, but trying to find somewhere that offers 100GB Storage and 1TB bandwidth with FREE WHMCS isn't possible. Hopefully for anyone looking for a host, trust me when I tell you to avoid TurnKey Internet. Thanks for reading!

I thought I was the only one who had bad experience with them. I guess nothing improved in TKI in the past 12months.

It's unfortunate when hosts are able to sucker you in with marketing talk. I think that there are a lot of good providers who will be able to help you out. Have a look at the offers section, most provide free transfers

I just opened a reseller account 2 days ago with them, and I gotta say that it takes them forever to answer a ticket... now I'm not sure if I made the right choice choosing them.

Get a refund and get out, that's my advise. I've just found they changed my billing from manual to automatic billing without permission. Didn't see that in their ToS. Their whole company is generally low quality I've found so far.

I'm very sorry to hear about your troubles! I am sure TurnKeyInternet will read this thread and will work to improve the service.

If you look for reviews here on the forum, you'll find countless negative ones much like your own.

I have looked their web site. The price of the reseler plan you used is $50/month(it's very expensive). You can find a better and more reliable reseller hosting or managed vps for this price.

I had an account there for a little over a year. It was a pretty good experience. I always got really good responses from Jeremy Walker, see if he is still there and try to get a hold of him. He really knows his stuff. I did experience some lag/downtime/slow loading pages at times but for the price and all the features included is hard to complain. My project wasn't that important so it really didn't affect me but I can understand where you are coming from. If you want a host that includes all those features, be ready to increase your budget by quite a bit.

I will discourage you from signing up unless you are looking for headaches and are willing to waste your precious time. I've been with them, never a pleasant experience.

This is surprising to me. I actually was told by a friend that they had an excellent experience with TurnKey. They said they tried about 4 different providers before sticking with TurnKeyInternet. Tickets were solved within the timeframe expected and there was no issue with downtime. Can you guys give some details on your negative experiences?

I am with them and their support is slow. And their services are not completely whitelabled. If you ask them anything which should be done they will try to sell their vps , saying it would be done on that.

I guessed it's because they cannot handle the order/support ticket volumes, if you look at the promotions they do in the past few months, that would attract lots of people to sign up with them. Maybe that's also why the reseller servers are not responsive/slow.

Posted by dominum, 02-03-2014, 04:41 AM
Well, they had the same low quality to no no quality support since at least 12months ago.

I probably should have said, I'm getting 100GB storage and 1TB bandwidth with free whmcs for $12.50, which is why I can really move.

Unfortunately they have had this reputation for years. I'm fine with blaming it on order volumes once or twice but time and time again suggests a different story.

I would of never though their service would sound like this. I've used them one time just for a month and didn't gave any issues neither did I contact support so I can't really say anything about that. You must be very frustrated with Tim I understand how your feeling I was once in that position before with another provider. If I were you and getting this type of service I would ask for a free clean refund without any head aches of course lol. There are many reseller providers here on WHT check the offers out and be sure to do homework before purchasing any type of service or product. Most providers are like that when you need something done or looked at all they will say oh well you should upgrade your service to our vps.

Hi Xxnomyxx - first and foremost I'm very sorry your experience has not been entirely positive, though I am happy to hear you wish to continue to host with us even in light of some of the pre and post sales questions that got delayed and mis-processed for you. I wont make any excuses, it's entirely on us if we required two times to properly correct the double disk/bandwidth bonus or total bandwidth/disk space upgrade totals to your account - when you signed up during our black friday promotion time period our staff in some cases would manually adjust some of the bonuses to client accounts, and unfortunately we made a mistake by leaving off a 0 and took too long to get that fixed for you. While that is not normal for us, we appreciate your understanding. If you have any open technical issues however (which reviewing your account since you signed up in last month in early December, it would appear you have opened up 24 unique tickets / live chats with a total of 57 responses from our customer service team to date) please feel free to Private Message me here, and ill make sure you get the answers you need on your reseller hosting. I didn't see any open technical issues / tickets (I tried to read through the entire ticket history), but if anything is still un-resolved please PM me and ill be happy to assist as best I can. I am also sorry to hear your frustration regarding your paypal subscription (auto payments), you can of course cancel that via paypal in your paypal control panel - just remember our invoice reminders will go out if you do not pay automatically on the renewal date and could lead to service interruption. You can pay your invoices with paypal or directly with a credit card. We would be more than happy to issue you a refund, although I do not see any open tickets of this nature from you with our customer service team so we have not had the opportunity to try to do so for you - but we would gladly do so for anyone so unhappy with the service experience. Our goal is to exceed your expectations, and clearly in this case we dropped the ball in your eyes, so just reply back to the ticket our customer service team just opened for you directly to get a full refund if you so desire. Have a great day!

I do believe that's disclosing personal client information right there, regarding my account payments etc and I'd prefer if you did not disclose such information. A business partner of mine and myself would use the account email to open livechats in an attempt to get answers quicker from you, as ticket response times can vary as some of the issues were classed as "urgent" according to my partner. The 27 tickets range back a couple of months if I remember correctly and most of them are from your live chat. Some of the issues such as downtime, time out and slow load times isn't manageable by us and we just have to sit it out. If it's possible to be put on a less packet node, that would be great. We're in no way looking for a refund, for what we're getting we can't exactly get it beaten elsewhere. I'd just ask that you give some staff members a decent kick in order to get them to focus on the whole issue at hand. I somewhat hope to continue hosting with you based on the factor of price and only price.

Now I have to give them credit here. Offering a full refund and an extension should we consider to move. Thanks, we're just talking through everything now.
