3 Month review PlatinumServerManagement (PSM)

Switching servers as well as having some issues with my previous server management company. I decided to hire PSM as our server management team. Being a cPanel fan for years when I scanned over PSM main site I did notice that they were exclusive server management when cPanel is in concern. Server security is and has always been a number one priority for us. Wanting to continue to run cPanel as our control panel it seems PSM would be a perfect fit. And a perfect fit it appears to have been. Secure And Hardening Of server. The first step to getting the server ready was to secure and harden the server. Frank the tech whom secured and hardened the server was able to answer all my questions regarding programs PSM installed within the server as well as steps he had taken to secure any programs that reside in the system as a whole. This was a fresh of breath air since my prior company felt that I did not need that information so all work they had done was completed in silence. Install Software The second step to getting the server ready was to install any software that might be required that did not come bundled with cPanel. Frank was involved in this as well. And each program that needed to be installed did require a separate ticket. This of course is a good thing. It helps keep things in proper perspective. What is important is to go thru your cPanel set up after the first step. And if you see any programs that need updated i.e. PHP mysql ECT. And have those updated at this point. Everything went very smoothly and all updates were placed within the desired programs. Server Migration The third step in getting the server ready was Server Migration. Michael was involved in this process. The migration itself went well. At this point of time communication with the tech is of a critical nature. The reason being. Trying not to disrupt the clients accounts data collection i.e. php/mysql driven sites. A smooth migration was desired and my communication efforts with my clients were bound to effective communication from the PSM tech. This went smoothly and all accounts were placed on the new server. Debugging accounts on new server. The fourth and final step was to debug the sites as they came online within the new server. Frank,Kevin,Jeff,John were all involved in this process. Server migrations tend to bring on some non desired affects on sites. And this migration was no different. All issues were taken care of very quickly and very efficiently. This step if any was the most critical since customers were the driving force behind all communication with PSM. Total Amount of time between fresh server and productive server: Step One Started: Wed Aug 15 18:23:32 EDT 2007 Step One Ended: Aug 18 01:50:15 EDT 2007 Step Two Started: Aug 16 00:36:54 EDT 2007 Step Two Ended For Major Software Upgrade: Aug 16 16:25:33 EDT 2007 Step Three Started Aug 16 10:55:45 EDT 2007 Step 3 Ended: Aug 17 13:35:28 EDT 2007 Step Four Started: Aug 17 16:03:23 EDT 2007 Step Four Ended for Major Issues: Aug 17 16:35:33 EDT 2007 Up to this post PSM has been very responsive to our tickets. There have been no issues with asking to do such things as set-up remote server backups. Asking security minded questions and or basic questions. Ticket response to “Service down” was replied to within minutes. A couple of tickets were closed by accident and the question or service was not completed. Besides that PSM performs without a flaw. Just a few thoughts on PSM is all Frank Doud Owner/Operator G.C. Solutions

Thanks for your review and compliments, we're always glad to read posts like this Sorry about any tickets accidentally closed, we're already addressing that issue by having a double confirmation button programmed into our system so that our techs have to click twice before the ticket is closed. That should prevent accidentally closing a ticket by mistake.

As long as you dont accidenlty close a "Service Down" ticket. No harm no foul. You have a pretty good crew behind you be sure to give them all a "PAT" on the back for me as well as a "GOOD JOB!!!"

PSM has been great to me for the short time that I have been with them. I currently only have one server with them but they have been very responsive to my tickets no matter what time they came in. Great Job Guys and Thanks, John

The original post was more of a PSM type review and i did forgot one person i would like to acknowledge in person. I would like to give a big "Shout Out" to Jeff. This tech is the one whom seems to handle the brunt of my tickets. He does so in a very professional manner as well as being knowledgeable about the issues and or questions that I have sent. I do not know if Jeff ever visits this forum. But if you do. Thank You Jeff for all of your help as well as your patience when my tickets are concerned. I for one am grateful to deal with such a great tech as yourself. Frank

I agree platinumservermanagement is one of the best companies i've dealt with and their support is the best. I've ran into some real big issues with one of my servers lately and I just couldn't deal with it so I submitted a ticket to them and got a response within 1 hour.

I've been away from this board for a little while and was surprised to come back and see several good threads about PSM. It's a fact that most people only post about a company when they have a complaint. It was nice to come back and see threads of praise for a change. They deserve it. I've used them for a couple years and they have been very helpful and informative. I like how they actually explain something to you if you ask. I've learned a few things from their expertise.
