Looking for new reseller webhosting

Posted by Capriman, 10-19-2011, 05:46 AM
Hi, I was wondering if someone could steer me in the right direction. I am looking for a new reseller hosting for my business. Currently we use fasthostingdirect.co.uk - I think they are a reseller themselves of heart? not too sure though. I keep getting downtime, emails keep going down and getting some account warnings that they are using x% of cpu. I've looked at the offer section but there seems to be absolutely loads of offers and i'm getting confused! What i'm looking for is to move somewhere where I get value for money. For instance, I have an account to use for design purposes but couldn't move it to the proper hosting account because I did not have the right access or something. I've been told I would be bale to do that easily in whm if i had the correct privileges. It would be great if i could get included whmcs (not essential), cpanel whm a must, linux, good support, good uptime, help with transfereing current accounts (about 10). Softaculous/fantastico. etc etc etc. I've seen these guys uk2.net/reseller-hosting/ they seem to be ok and have some good features but they did say they would charge £100 to transfer my current sites across. Money is an issue at the mo. It would be great if I went somewhere that also had options for dedicated and VPS as some of my clients will be needing it in the future. I prefer uk servers but I don't mind anywhere as long as they are good. I would really appreciate anyone's help with this. many thanks.

Hi How many accounts do you need to move over?? some hosts can do this for free for you. A VPS is a good option too for your future growth, check with your host if you have the option to upgrade to a VPS with migration too when you move. Chris

How many accounts do you have? Also how much diskspace/bandwidth do you require?

I highly suggest Eleven2 they are doing a great job and the support they provide is excellent.

I'm sure regardless of how many acounts you need to move over any hosting provider that you choose would be happy to do it for you free of charge

I'm assuming you currently use cPanel? Migrations from cPanel to cPanel is fairly easy and most hosts will do this for free. I definitely would not pay £100 to transfer 10 accounts! Most of the requirements you are after are pretty much standard nowadays so nearly all hosts will be able to offer cpanel/softaculous/etc.

eukhost / cwcs are a couple names that come to mind for UK based reseller hosting. Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the replies folks. Am a bit of a noob with hosting andreseller etc. in the past have only ever used hostgator. I've only got about 10 accounts so fast and yes, use cpanel. Having a mare as email keeps going down and clients are calling to complain. Don't know about bandwidth or dish usage. I think the main thing will be support oh and reliable bloody email! Lol.

Why don't you use Hostgator? They are excellent, no down time and superb CS. I had a bad experience with Eleven2, 3 consecutive days with down time, I'm sure that's not normal, but they lost a client (me) for that reason.

Can you send me your ticket id? I dont believe we have had 3 consecutive days of downtime ever.

1 eUKhost. Definitely consider them.

I did not mean you were down the whole day, but I did have some minutes of down time 3 consecutive days, I don't have tickets number but I did called and chat with your Support Team the three days. When that happened I was just starting my Web Hosting business and was about to loose a very important client that I managed to convince to move from previous provider to my service. I'm sure Eleven2 is one of the best providers, not doubt about that, it was just bad luck and we had to take a decision and migrate to another provider.

Okay thanks for the clarification. We were turning up next circuits this week and last week and have a few times where we had 2-3 min while routers updated.

I'm not sure about Eleven2. I sent a ticket one hour ago and received one blanket reply saying everything looks fine from our end. When I'm still not able to browse to my website. I've sent 2 follow ups and have not heard back..

I would suggest contacting our live chat or give us a call, we cannot provide continuous updates on here at WHT Or always email me directly as listed: http://www.eleven2.com/contact-eleven2-web-hosting/

I have been in touch, thanks! I forgot that you had both live chat and phone support. Since I couldn't login to brain support, I didn't know where to turn. I'm glad you guys monitor these forums... Still have questions but hopefully they'll be answered in my tickets : ) Thanks.

Actually, I bet the issue you are having is that 4.2.2.1 4.2.2.2 are either down or giving you issues. Those are Level3's wildly popular DNS resolvers basically the whole world uses

Thank you very much for your help!

Anyone else have any other recommendations? What do you think about the offers that are in the offers section?

Posted by rwilki, 10-19-2011, 01:33 PM
Capriman, I've used many reseller and shared hosting providers over the past 9 years, there are many good and many bad providers out there. You will have issues with any hosting provider if you stay with them long enough, the key is how quickly and how effectively they respond to you. While I've had a few issues with Eleven2 / Sharkspace over the past few years, their support is typically very fast and incredibly effective. I've also heard good things about lightningservers and innohosting but have no experience with them.
