How to fight spam?

Posted by A_Fig_Lee, 12-29-2012, 01:30 PM
I keep getting spam messages with this headers: With this body: Links there: http://newsletters.sendmsg.co.il/?p=...-842619&lang=2 Whom should I contact to shut it down? abuse@012.net does not react, sent them few email a week ago. Is there a way to stop spam, or should I just block them on firewall?

Yes would be cheapest way. I'm upset that it is using DKIM and still spamming.

Protecting 100% from SPAM is almost impossible. In a battle to protect against SPAM, if you are using cPanel then, I would suggest you to also enable "SpamAssassin" and cPanel plugin like "ASSP X Spam & Virus Shield". It will help you a lot.

The ccTLd is .il , why do you use abuse@012.net for sending spam reports.

If you do reverse lookup on the ip where email was sent from, it will tell you that name servers are from goldlines.net.il if you go to their website, will redirect to 012.net Partial traceroute to the origin: 8 edge.lon-02-re1-so-2-2-0-1-0.bb.012.net.il (80.179.165.134) 98.813 ms 125.290 ms 135.530 ms 9 edge-lon-mx-01-ae0-102.ip4.012.net.il (80.179.165.105) 105.215 ms 90.242 ms brdr-pt-so-3-0-0-0.ip4.012.net.il (80.179.165.18) 167.584 ms 10 brdr-core-mr-so-9-0-2-0.ip4.012.net.il (80.179.165.153) 169.522 ms 159.568 ms core-1-pt-tengi10-1-2024.ip4.012.net.il (212.199.49.97) 164.075 ms 11 dc-pt-01-te1-2.ip4.012.net.il (212.199.146.25) 162.929 ms core-1-pt-tengi10-1-2024.ip4.012.net.il (212.199.49.97) 165.056 ms 202.808 ms 12 comstarpostfix5.spd.co.il (62.128.51.19) 172.502 ms 166.244 ms dc-pt-01-te1-2.ip4.012.net.il (212.199.146.25) 163.906 ms End of route. I think they sit on they same machine, perhaps leased IP from someone to keep their IP clean

Send a warning to the registrant of the domain name forexnotifier.net , and if he does not stop spamming, you can complain to the registrar.

I think the best way here is to directly send this spam complaint to Spamcop. If you don't have much time but still want to report spam, Spamcop is the way to go.

Or you can bother not to waste your time fighting it, and just setting filters to deliver it to /dev/null. I'm sure you have more important things to do than to "fight" spam.

Defending the incoming spam mails using a cpanel level access is not highly active. As mentioned above the best way is to enable SA and filters.
