Setting up root server on hetzner

Posted by DAWN1404, 02-21-2012, 12:47 PM
Hello, I've installed cpanel + centos 6 on a root server and followed cpanel setup wizard and assigned two nameservers (ns1.site.com) and (ns2.site.com) by same ip for the server. Also I've assigned my only ip in hetzner to (ns1.site.com) and an A record for the hostname is added . The resolver ips of hetzner.de are also in the /etc/resolve.conf. when I run (/scripts/ipcheck) command from shell it reports no error. Also the new nameservers are added in the registerar they have same ip for two nameservers , but I've added it in last 24 hours. Also I have recompiled Apache too. The problem is that I have server.site.com but not www.site.com, Would you please help me what can be the problem ? Should I wait more or there is a problem in this setting to work as a webserver. Thanks Last edited by DAWN1404; 02-21-2012 at 12:51 PM.

Have you added site.com as domain to cPanel? You need to do that in order to generate the DNS zones for site.com, www.site.com, etc. If you've already done that, providing the domain name will help us to check the cause of your issue. Also have a look at: http://www.intodns.com/

Are saying that you only have 1 IP Address? If so, you will need to get a second, your nameservers should not share IP Addresses (many would agree that it should not be on the same server)

Sounds like you havent added/created the DNS zones for the domain in question. Simply create an account for the domain then your problem should be fixed...

Yes, and preferably from two different C blocks.

Hetzner does not allocate ip addresses for the reason of nameservers (due to RIPE guidelines) and says I should use just one.

Hello,

It's first time I face this issue from a datacenter, BTW I can use this only server but I had to move some reseller customers to this datacetner and their policy prevented me to do so. They strongly insist on their strict ip allocation policy

I like strict IP Policies (there are so many datacenters wasting IP addresses for items such SEO Hosting), DNS should not be a problem for 1 more

The problem solved by clicking on (Add A entry) to the ns in Basic WHM setup page. I've done this before but repeated it and it solved the problem. Thank you very much.
