Hi folks Can you help me to provide your experience with tech support and services with best possible HOSTING RESELLER... as i am going to open reseller account with one of the best companies...? Is there any name to go for...????

Before you get into who's the best, you should know what you want first - Operating system - Control panel - Features, data storage and transfer - Target market (you need this) Then you can narrow down the field of hosts, to who's the best for you,

Anthony's right. Figure what YOU want/need in a host before searching for a host for your new business. You won't regret it

There is no best company, but there are a good few companies around that you can rely on. Each company is slightly different about its offerings, so you should find out exactly what your requirements are and start searching for reviews of some companies. You can find some good reviews here... Good luck

Read the reviews on WHT to find a reliable reseller hosting provider. Most important things are uptime, speed of support, security, product features.. etc.

Hi folks But Which is better reseller account... windows or Linux for starting the hosting business ??

Posted by -3RROR-, 11-30-2006, 11:05 AM
If you don't have a need for what Microsoft offers (ASP .NET, MSSQL, etc), Linux would then be the recommended OS to start on. Keep in mind if you would want to go Windows for whatever reason, it usually is a bit more expensive. Also, since you say you are starting a business, Linux would be recommended as that is what many people use (normally I see only higher-end businesses using Windows).

I agree, generally speaking, I recommend people to start with linux based hosting, unless three is a specific need for windows based hosting..... Pay a couple extra $'s if you have to, but make sure to go with a company that has a good reputation instead of a no-name, unlimited everything host..... you will be glad you did -steve

Again, it's what YOU need not what's best. There are hosts that offer both. My preference, I like linux if that helps

Is it adviseable to charge a minor setup fees along with good services and support from the client although i am selling hosting from a reseller..????

Posted by nax9, 11-30-2006, 04:02 PM
You can charge anything your target market will pay for Hosting from a reseller isn't an important fact. Your clients will not know that, and so you shouldn't think about it when you create your costs and plans.

Whats the things to keep in mind while i design my own packages and costs while i have a reseller account ??

Posted by nax9, 11-30-2006, 04:13 PM
Who are you going to sell to? Will it be local clients, or worldwide? If it's worldwide, what value added services can you offer that will justify the price premium, compared to the other billion hosts out there, all selling the same thing? This is especially true for resellers. You'll need something unique, or extra, in order to make a profit (if you're selling via the internet). You won't be able to compete with the ******s, 1and1s and so on...based only on costs.

I think its all about innovative products. Yeah you can offer the same diskspace and bandwidth routine and the other trillion gazillion web hosting providers out there, but what will set you apart? Nothing, you need innovative product line to bring to the table. Plus, you really need to focus your efforts on support. Who will be providing the support for your clients? Remember word of month advertising is a big player in getting bigger. If your support is not up to par, your customers will not mingle with others about your service. That being said, innovation on your side and 100% support focus should do it for you. Don't base your pricing on what the others offer. Base it off of what you need to make a profit, but make sure you have innovation in your plans.

gurdeeptoor, in regards to your question about hosting plan configurations, check out this thread: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=564686 . Also, I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but ResellersPanel offers a very untraditional reseller program that may be of some interest to you. (They also offer a traditional cPanel/WHM-based reseller program.)
