ProFTPD

Hello, I am having an issue with the latest version of ProFTPD. Its timing out every few minutes even when I have set it to time out in 15 minutes in config file. It happens only when FTPS is used instead if plain FTP. No matter whether if you set FTP client to ping/PWD/SYST every 30 seconds or disable pinging at all. It happens like this: once you leave it there for a couple of minutes and then try to upload/download/refresh the remote directory it returns Operation not permitted and you have to reconnect in order to perform any operations. Anyone faced the same issue?

Hi You may have already looked, but did you glance through the logs on the server ? if that didnt show anything up, did you try debugging it ? Thanks

I have looked over the logs and found nothing that could help me to debug this issue. Can you please let me know how could I debug this issue?

do you have a particular timeout set maybe?

As I said in my original post

It seems that only FreeBSD users are affected.

I can not suggest anything about timeouts without checking configs and testing it, but (!) be sure to upgrade your proftpd to the latest version as it was recently compromised, again

did you also check the timeout on the client side? maybe a dumb question, but did you restart proftpd after you changed the timeout?

check the issue after disabling anti-virus/firewall on the client machine. Sometimes the firewall may block inactive open tcp connections.
